The Wyoming Cowboys led New Mexico most of the way in the Pit on Wednesday night but fell to a 71-67 loss in a heart-stopping finish.
The Cowboys led the nail-biter for 35 minutes and 19 seconds, but saw their effort unravel in the final three minutes.

The loss came despite Wyoming playing one of its best games of the year, shooting nearly 63 percent in the first half. Obi Agbim led Wyoming with 22 points, marking his 21st game in double-figures this season and his seventh game with 20 or more points.
A.J. Wills added 12 points for his fourth game in double-figures this season. Cole Henry added 10 points for his seventh game in double-figures. Dontaie Allen added a career-high, 11 rebounds, to lead all players. Jordan Nesbitt added eight points and seven rebounds.
The Pokes came out shooting hot to take an early lead and held it most of the way, only to unravel at the end on the Lobos home court.
The Cowboys will head to Colorado State on Saturday for the second edition of the Border War inside Moby Arena at 2 p.m. on the Mountain West Network.
