U.S. Senator John Barrasso flew out from Washington this to week to visit members of the Wyoming Army National Guard’s 115th Field Artillery Brigade, including members of the 2-300th, all deployed to the Middle East.

Wyoming has more than 100 service members currently stationed in Jordan. All are serving with the 115th. The soldiers provide long-range precision fire support for conventional and special operations forces in Iraq, Jordan, and Syria.

Wyoming’s senior senator joined the Cowboy State troops on the base, touring their facilities and talking with 40 or more of the soldiers in a theater where the American and Wyoming flags were prominently displayed on the stage. The b-roll footage sent to television stations also shows the Senator sitting side by side, eating and chatting with the troops during a meal in the base commissary.

Senator Barrasso said Wyoming is proud of their service and commitment to the United States.

“These soldiers, who are a long way from home, are on the front lines fighting terrorists and protecting our freedoms. They truly represent what it means to be from the Cowboy State and live the Cowboy Code each day,” the senator said in a statement. “It was a privilege to spend time with them and tell them how proud everyone back home is of their service.”

The service members stationed in Jordan are from 16 different communities across Wyoming. During his visit this week, Senator Barrasso received a briefing from military officials on the security situation and challenges in the Middle East.
