A Florida man is accused of kidnapping a Utah minor after being apprehended at a Sinclair truck stop.
On April 28, the Utah County Prosecutor’s Office in Utah charged 33-year-old Alex Pete Guy of Mulberry, Florida, with aggravated kidnapping for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl.
Court documents obtained by Bigfoot99 state that on April 27th, the girl’s mother contacted law enforcement to report that her daughter, referred to as M.G., was missing. A friend of the girl informed police that M.G. had been communicating with an adult male online and was likely with him.
Police were unable to track the missing girl’s phone because it could only be used with a wireless internet connection. However, police determined that M.G. had taken her Apple AirPods and were able to pinpoint her location with their GPS data.
Using the Airpods, officers tracked the missing girl to a truck stop outside of Sinclair, Wyoming.
A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper spotted the missing girl coming out of the unnamed truck stop with Alex Guy and promptly arrested the suspect. When questioned by police, Guy said he had been in communication with M.G. for three months and knew she was underage. The suspect told officers that he had flown from his home in Florida to Utah County, Utah, to meet M.G. with the intention of marrying the 17-year-old girl. Guy rented a car in Utah and picked the underage girl up from her home without her parents’ knowledge or consent.
Guy is currently being held in Wyoming, awaiting extradition to Utah to stand trial for aggravated kidnapping. If convicted, the suspect faces a mandatory term of imprisonment of 15 years to life.
The Utah County Prosecutor’s Office has requested that Guy be held without bail while awaiting trial.
