The Wyoming Cowboys will open the 2025 football season on the road in Ohio at Akron.
Tomorrow night’s game will be the first ever meeting between the Cowboys and the Zips.
In our preview of the Cowboys yesterday, we did not discuss the offensive line. So, let’s start there.
At left tackle, sophomore Nate Geiger from Highlands Ranch, Colorado is a mechanical engineering student. He comes in at 6-5, weighing 300 pounds. Jake Davies from Yorkville, Illinois started in all 11 games last year. The sophomore, studying finance, stands 6-7 and weighs 300.
Left Guard: Wes King is a junior standing 6-5 and weighing 315. Red Shirt freshman Caleb Hall from California is 6-5, 295 pounds.
At center, senior Jack Walsh returns weighing 314 and standing 6-4. The backup center is junior Luke Sandy. Another big boy, Sandy is 6-3, 304 pounds.
Right Guard Caden Barnett comes in as a senior, weighing 320 and standing 6-5. Barnett’s backup is freshman Braylon Jenkins, 6-4, 314.
Right tackle: Sophomore Rex Johnsen 6-5, 296. Another freshman, Giovanni Panozzo is 6-5, and weighs 306.
Taking a quick look at the game: the Cowboys are 12-5 all-time against current teams from the MAC, going 5-and-3 at home 4-and-2 on the road, and 3-and-1 at neutral sites.
