The big question across the Cowboy State on Monday was focused on the health of Wyoming quarterback Kaden Anderson.

The Cowboys’ 6-4, 230-pound signal caller left the game on Saturday against Northern Iowa with an upper body injury. Kaden did not return to the field, and his health status was the most-guarded secret in the Cowboy State until Head Coach Jay Sawvel declared #12 ready to play this week against the University of Iowa, who ranked at #17 in the nation on Monday.

After sizing up this week’s opponent, the head coach was asked about Anderson.

Anderson came out of the game late in the third quarter after going down and fumbling the ball. Anderson suffered a heavy hit on an unchecked blitz late in the third quarter.

Anderson laid on the ground in pain for several minutes before coming out of the game at that point. Backup Landon Sims finished the game under center for the Pokes.

Anderson was grinning Monday afternoon, when he came out onto the field, telling reporters, “He got me good.”

The good news for Wyoming fans is that Anderson avoided any major damage from the heavy hit and resulting fumble.

Anderson is scheduled to run through a full practice today in Laramie as Wyoming gets ready for Utah on Saturday night.

Head Coach Sawvel summed up Utah, saying they have few weaknesses.

Wyoming is a 22.5-point underdog against the Utes. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. We’ll be on the air at 4:30.
