Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon continues to watch the ongoing negotiation around the federal shutdown. Under the Governor’s Declaration of Public Welfare Emergency, the state has released over $1-million worth of emergency food in the Cowboy State.

Wyoming Department of Family Services (DFS) has committed $109,509 to independent pantries, $544,290 directly to food pantries who are affiliated with the Food Bank of Wyoming and $544,290 to the Food Bank of Wyoming.

Under the Governor’s direction the State will continue to monitor the situation and expend funds on a weekly basis as needed until the federal shutdown ends.

As a reminder, the Wyoming Hunger Relief Program does not fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) directly.  The funds, up to $10 million in total, are being distributed by DFS and used to help augment all food insecurity across the state.
