Cowboys Head Coach Sundance Wicks said the Lopes held the pace from the start of Wyoming’s first home loss of the season.

GCU looked impressive from the start, going on 16-0 run to lead 18-3 less than seven minutes into the game.

Wyoming scored on its opening possession when Kiani Saxon made his first 3-pointer of the season, but then the Cowboys did not score on their next 10 possessions with five misses and five turnovers.

The Cowboys will enjoy a Christmas break until December 30th when they get back to conference play at Air Force on December 30th. That’s next Tuesday in a rare 2 p.m. start inside Clune Arena.

The Wyoming Cowgirls lost on the road to Fresno State on Saturday 53-36. The Bulldogs outscored Wyoming by 16 in the fourth quarter for the win on the West Coast.

The Cowgirls are 4-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

In other Mountain West games, Utah State beat Colorado State 100-58. The Utes looked strong. The Rams big star, 6-9 sophomore Kyle Jorgensen suffered a knee injury under the offensive hoop about four minutes into the game. After being helped to the locker room, Jorgensen sat the remainder of the game on the bench with ice on the left knee. The Rams will know more about the injury to their star today.
