Boise State picked up their seventh win over the Cowboys Tuesday night, beating Wyoming 81-65 inside the Arena Auditorium.
Playing without their 6 foot-7inch difference-maker—freshman Naz Meyer—the Cowboys were in desperation mode much of the second half. Meyer, who averages 14 points per game, sat the game out for concussion protocol.
Senior Leland Walker tried to fill in the gap. Walker led the Pokes with a career-high, 30 points for his 14th game this season in double-figures and the 67th of his career. He was 10-of-17 from the field tying a season-high. His 30 points was the most since Hunter Maldonado had 36 against New Mexico in the Mountain West Tournament in 2023. Gavin Gores added eight points and four rebounds along with Damerion Dennis adding the same line.
The shorthanded Cowboys suffered their fourth straight loss, falling to 11-8 overall, 2-6 in the Mountain West. For Boise State, the win was their seventh straight over Wyoming. The Broncos improved to 11-8 on season, 3-5 in the Mountain West.
Wyoming led early on with the zone, but once the Broncos found success in the paint, they dominated the shorthanded Cowboys. Boise State led by as much as 20 points, early on.
The Cowboys went 0-for-9 from beyond the arc, 5-for-10 in the second. Wyoming started the game hot and led 8-3 early but faded quickly.
The Cowboys return to action on Saturday hosting San Jose State at 2 p.m. inside the Arena-Auditorium.
