The big winter storm bearing down on Wyoming and much of the nation over the next few days should miss Carbon County, but our neighbors to our east won’t be as lucky.

With temperatures approaching the subzero range in the forecast for this weekend in southeast Wyoming, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is telling people to brace for the first real blast of winter weather in 2026.
By comparison, Rawlins and Saratoga may seem rather balmy. Rawlins will see a low of minus-4 with snow showers on Friday. Saratoga will see a low of minus-4 on Friday with highs around 20 on Saturday and Sunday. Some snow showers are expected.

Temperatures here are expected to begin rebounding on Sunday with highs near freezing on Monday. Temperatures will be into the 40s by the end of next week and near 50 by the first week of February.

So be ready for a short, sharp blast of winter weather this weekend followed by a warmup.
