The power was out across much of Carbon County for more than two hours beginning late Wednesday morning.
According to emails from Rocky Mountain Power addressing the issue, electricity was shut off users in Rawlins and the Platte Valley at 11:34 yesterday morning. However, according to my phone records, Bigfoot 99 placed an outgoing call to Carbon Power and Light at 11:14, or 20 minutes before Rocky Mountain Power determined the outage started.
At 1:10 in the afternoon, Rocky Mountain Power called my phone to follow up on the outage, which knocked both KTGA and KBDY off the air.
The call center had no update beyond the estimated time of 5:30 p.m. for power to be restored. About 4,500 RMP users were affected by the outage, according to the power company. The company noted that the first reports of the outage were received at 11:16.
Four zip codes in the area were included in the outage report: 82301, 82336, 82334 and 82331.
The lights flickered for a few seconds around 1 p.m. at the station, but power failed to return.
According to the events log at Bigfoot 99, power was fully restored on safter 1:40 Wednesday afternoon.
So in all, power was out for about 2:30 hours.
