President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), was confirmed in a 54-45 vote by the U.S. Senate on Monday night.

Prior to the vote, Wyoming Senator John Barrasso, the senate majority whip, spoke in support of Mullin.

Only two Democrats vote yes, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA)  and Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM).

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) did not cast a vote.

Barrasso, in his speech, said, “Many employees are working without pay. Others have been furloughed. Families are struggling to afford basic needs. TSA agents are quitting and calling in sick in rising numbers. As a result, wait times at major airports are rising as well.”
