A sixty-four year old North Dakota man died while at the Hobo Hot Pools last week.
On Tuesday, September 8th, at around two in the morning, fire‑department sirens could be heard in Saratoga as emergency crews responded to the Hobo Hot Pools. The Carbon County Unified Dispatch Center had received reports of an unresponsive male at the hot pools, and bystanders were performing CPR.
South Central Wyoming EMS, the Saratoga Fire Department, and the Saratoga Police Department were dispatched to the area. After arriving at the hot pools, emergency crews continued performing CPR, and an AED, or automated external defibrillator, was deployed, but their efforts were not effective. The victim, 64-year-old Cary Garmann of Waterford City, North Dakota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a media release, Saratoga Police Lieutenant Mike Morris wrote that Garmann had been soaking in the hot pool, when guests noticed that he was underwater and not moving. The victim was removed from the pool by the other guests and lifesaving measures were initiated.
Garmann’s cause of death has not been identified at this time, and the investigation is still underway.
