Hospital may be in the cards for Saratoga

Rawlins celebrates its Texas roots
Everything’s bigger in Texas, or so they say. So big that its northern boundary was once located just 10 miles north of present day Rawlins. To celebrate this odd and interesting piece of history, the City of Rawlins will recognize August 15th as Republic of Texas Day. Cali O’Hare has the story.
Barrasso blasts Bank of the West
Wyoming Senator John Barrasso is questioning whether Bank of the West is really of the “west” at all anymore. On Wednesday, Barrasso pushed back against the San Francisco-based financial institution for its decision to stop doing business with companies that explore for oil, gas and coal. In a letter to the bank’s president and chief executive officer, Nandita Bakshi, Wyoming’s junior senator characterized the decision as “a direct attack on the hardworking families in Wyoming and across the country that depend on fossil fuels for energy security, jobs and economic growth.” Earlier this week, the company announced in a new policy that it would withdraw support from companies and business activities that it feels are detrimental to the environment. The lengthy new policy forbids financing or investing in coal-fired power plants. Tobacco-related companies are also on the Bank of the West’s hit list.
New Saratoga ordinances approved
The Saratoga Town Council this week approved the first reading of two ordinances the planning commission spent the past year working on. They include establishing a fee schedule and creating a new permitting process for mobile home parks. Emma Diercks has the story.
Triathlon aims to raise funds for Rawlins students
