School districts working to eradicate sexual predators
School districts across the nation are looking to weed out sexual predators in the classroom. To conform to new federal law, school officials are developing policies forbidding administrators from providing recommendations to any past employees who have been convicted of sexual crimes or are even believed to have committed crimes.
Carbon County School District Two passed the first reading of its policy Monday evening and Carbon County School District One is expected to do the same next week. Emma Diercks has the story.

Operations ramp up as Ryan Fire remains uncontained
A Type II Incident Team took over suppression operations on the Ryan Fire Tuesday. Still uncontained, the flames are visible on both sides of the state line about five miles southeast of Hog Park Reservoir. The latest estimate puts the size at nearly 2,500 acres.
The campgrounds at the Hog Park recreation area in Carbon County remain open, but are on the edge of other closure areas. Aaron Voos said those closures remain in effect.
Closures are also in effect for hunt areas in Colorado. Weather and fire activity over the next few days will determine if the closures remain in effect. About 70 personnel were on the scene yesterday under the command of Shane Greer with Rocky Mountain Team Black.
The Ryan Fire, like other recent fires in the dead and dying forests of Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming presents challenges to traditional ways of battling blazes. Incident teams choose carefully where and how they engage to ensure both safety of the firefighters and success of operations, Voos said.
The Ryan Fire started Saturday night on the northern edge of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness area in Colorado. By Sunday evening, strong winds drove it across the state line into Carbon County. The big plume of smoke from the fire could be seen as far north and east as Laramie. The fire slowed down Monday with lighter winds and cloud cover. It is burning on the Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests. The cause reminds under investigation.
