Dr. Kaiser breaks silence, disputes clinic closure date
In Saratoga, the transition to a new operator at the Platte Valley Medical Clinic will happen sooner rather than later. The actual date, however, remains in doubt. While Dr. Bryan Kaiser appeared to be staying until as late as the end of the year, public notices published in local newspapers set the date of his departure as October 19th. Dr. Kaiser contests that date though, and says he can’t be out that early. Whatever the cases, officials at Health Management Services say they will keep the doors to the facility open in a seamless fashion. Emma Diercks has the story.
Public Notice Number 8604 apparently published four times, including September 25th in the Rawlins newspaper, put the closing date as October 19th. In a phone call to Bigfoot 99 this morning, Dr. Kaiser contested the date and expressed frustration with both town officials and HMS.
The public notice does state that any patients seeking their confidential medical records before the transition should request them in writing with a letter sent to P.O. Box 648, Saratoga, Wyoming 82331.
Rawlins officials discuss specific purpose tax projects
With the early payoff earlier this year of the 2009 specific purpose tax bonds, Carbon County residents will get a break from the extra tax, but they’ll see it appear again on the May 2019 ballot. In the interim, each of the county’s municipalities are pricing out projects they hope to accomplish if the tax is approved next year. At Tuesday’s work session, Rawlins City Council discussed 12 projects on the horizon. Cali O’Hare reports.
Elks Lodge collecting hides for veterans
The Rawlins Elks Lodge is once again accepting donations of hides for the Veterans Leather Program. All donated hides will be treated by volunteers and then sold to raise money for veteran programs. Cali O’Hare has the details.
