A 15-acre fire burning west of Saratoga on Monday in the Jack Creek area of the Medicine Bow National Forest appeared to be largely under control Tuesday morning.

According to a release from Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken, the fire was first spotted around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

By 10:30 last night, the fire had consumed approximately 15 acres with moderate spread potential.

No structures had been damaged and fire fighters had built lines to control the flames from spreading.

Carbon County firefighters left the scene by midnight but were back in the burn area Tuesday morning.

Residents are cautioned to avoid travel in the Jack Creek area so crews can continue their fire suppression work.

The Tuesday morning update from Carbon County Fire Warden John Rutherford notes that the burn zone was still estimated at 15 acres with no new growth. Red Flag warnings are in effect for Tuesday until 8 p.m.
