The 2025 Border War in Laramie resulted in 17 DUI arrests and one possession of a controlled substance arrest.
The big game resulted in a 28-0 shutout win for Wyoming over Colorado State at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. Outside, the stadium law enforcement was working a dragnet to catch drunk drivers in Albany and Laramie Counties on the Wyoming side of the border.
Similar operations were underway in Larimer and Weld Counties on the Colorado side of the border before, during, and after the game.
Agencies involved in Wyoming included the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie Police Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, University of Wyoming Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, Pine Bluffs Police Department, and the Cheyenne Police Department.
The score included 243 traffic stops made by Wyoming law enforcement. Reported citations and arrests include 33 total arrests (including the 17 DUI arrests), 33 speeding citations, 9 seat belt citations, one child restraint citation, and 22 other citations in addition to 165 warnings issued.
Weather was reportedly good on both sides of the border that day. Kickoff took place at 5:30 in the afternoon.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol urges drivers to help keep Wyoming’s roadways safe by calling the Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) hotline at (800) 442-9090 to report suspected drunk drivers. Callers should be prepared to provide the dispatcher with a description of the vehicle, its location, and the direction of travel.
