Al Simpson was laid to rest Monday following a funeral service in Cody at the Christ Episcopal Church following several days of memorials across the state.
Several hundred people crowded the chapel. In the audience on Monday, sitting near the front, were US Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, and University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel. Also attending were professional basketball player Bill Bradley and the Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, Cam Sholly.
The ceremony was touching, humorous at times, through family stories. Eldest son Bill Simpson thanked those attending the service or who had sent a note of remembrance.
