The Albany County Sheriff’s Department is now treating the discovery of an unidentified body at Mirror Lake, near the base of Medicine Bow Peak, on July 4th as a homicide.

The body found under a tarp in the picnic area at Mirror Lake is believed to be that of an elderly man. Few other details have been made public.

According to a statement from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, no identifying markings were found on the body. Law enforcement agencies are waiting for more information from fingerprints, DNA and dental records in what is being called a “John Doe” case.

The body was discovered last Thursday, July 4th. Law enforcement closed the area while they investigated the scene. If you have any information regarding the discovery, you are urged to contact the Laramie Police at 307-721-2526.
