Memorial Hospital of Carbon County is hosting its second annual free Care Fair in April.

On April 27th, join MHCC at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center for the Care Fair. Director of Strategic Operations Stephanie Hinkle said in the past, the hospital held a version of the Care Fair. COVID caused MHCC to cancel the in-person event for two years. Hinkle said the community demanded the return of a public health-focused event. Now in its second year, Hinkle said the Care Fair continues to grow and offer more services to the people of Carbon County.

Carbon County Public Health Communicable Disease Unit Outreach Coordinator Megan Cragun spearheaded the return of the Care Fair. Cragun said eight community organizations, many returning from last year, are planning and coordinating this year’s health fair.

Director of Strategic Operations Hinkle said last year’s event attracted vendors from across the state. Hinkle said unlike the Health Fair of the past, the new Care Fair is focused on providing people with information on all aspects of care, not just personal health.

Carbon County Public Health Outreach Coordinator Cragun said a variety of vendors are coming together to provide the public with health and wellness information. Cragun said Care Fair attendees can learn about domestic abuse, gay rights, and funeral services.

The 2024 Care Fair is free to attend. Cragun said vendors are being asked not to sell anything during the event. The outreach coordinator said the Care Fair is designed to share information with the public, not make money.

Cragun said non-profit organizations will be permitted to hold raffles during the Care Fair.

As well as vendors, Director of Strategic Operations Hinkle said Care Fair attendees can take advantage of low-cost blood testing.

Hinkle said the Care Fair couldn’t occur without generous donations from the event’s sponsors. The MHCC strategic operations director said the Care Fair was never planned to generate a large amount of money. However, Hinkle said thanks to last year’s sponsors, the hospital was able to donate to the American Legion baseball team.

Hinkle said the Legion youth baseball players have volunteered to set up and take down the vendor booths at the Care Fair.

The strategic operations director said event sponsors allow the Care Fair to happen. Hinkle said she is always looking for more people and businesses to contribute to the health event.

Hinkle said she is still accepting sponsors for this year’s event. The cut-off date is March 1st. Call Director of Strategic Operations Stephanie Hinkle at 324-8378 for more information about sponsoring the Care Fair.

The second annual Care Fair is April 27th at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center, located at 1616 Harshman Street in Rawlins. The event runs from 8:00 am to noon. Admission is free. For more information about the Care Fair, call Carbon County Public Health Communicable Disease Unit Outreach Coordinator Megan Cragun at 328-2708.
