The Sixth Annual Rawlins Downtown Art Beat takes place this evening and everyone is welcome to enjoy a variety of activities during the family-friendly event.

Hosted by the Rawlins Downtown Development Authority Main Street, the yearly art happening has businesses open their doors to local artists.

Your tour should begin at the Holiday Workshop at 408 West Cedar Street where you can pick up a map of event locations. While there, people can participate in a scavenger hunt. Attendees are given a list of things to find in and around downtown Rawlins. Last year’s hunt went so well that they’ve added an architectural search. Sondra Dent, project coordinator of the DDA/Main Street, explains how it works.

Eleven artists from across Carbon County will be putting on exhibitions. From painting, to jewelry, to ceramics, there will be a variety of activities to choose from. Dent describes some of the things there will be to do.

Rawlins high, middle, and elementary school classes will have a display at Markey Realty showing off their creations. Like last year’s event, there will also be things to eat. Dent said that adding mobile vendors and more activities attracted a larger crowd than before.

Sage Creek Realty will be this year’s official Art Beat Cookie Sponsor, providing baked goods for attendees. Dent said the cookie sponsorship was a creative way for everyone to join in on the fun.

The Rawlins Downtown Development Authority Main Street’s 2022 Art Beat is on October 7th, from 4 to 8pm, in downtown Rawlins.
