In Washington, D.C. on Friday, U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming was sworn in as the Majority Whip of the upper chamber in the 119th Congress.
In a statement, Barrasso said the priorities of the Wyoming people “are top-of mind” as he takes on the leadership position. Senator Barrasso said in a statement, “Americans voted boldly this year to lower costs, secure our border, and unleash American energy. Senate Republicans heard them loud and clear.”
The vote of the American people, Barrasso said, means a new direction for the country as the Biden Administration leaves office this month.
In addition to his role as Senate Majority Whip, Barrasso serves on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources, Finance, and Foreign Relations committees.
Barrasso’s swearing-in Friday was part of the Republican sweep of political power in Washington. While GOP majority in the Senate is too narrow to overcome filibusters, the shift from the Joe Biden-Chuck Schumer-Nancy Pelosi era marks a dramatic change.
