The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on C Street Northwest in Washington, D.C., rejected the detailed comments submitted by the State of Wyoming and other entities protesting the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Proposed Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA) submitted by the Buffalo Field Office.
In a quietly released Protest Resolution Report issued on September 20, BLM denied or dismissed every protest submitted, with the BLM stating that no changes to the Buffalo FSEIS/RMPA are necessary.
Governor Gordon responded to the dismissal, saying he is disappointed but “not surprised” by the “characteristic disregard for the proper process or simple respect by the Biden-Harris Administration’s BLM.”
The governor continued saying the state response was met with a “characteristic disregard for proper process or simple respect” from the Biden Administration.
The governor said the final EIS was filled with “extreme inconsistencies with federal law and local land use policies were summarily dismissed, as was vital input from our impacted counties and their industries.”
Wyoming’s governor said the Biden Administration has no respect for hard working Americans. Governor Gordon reacted to the news, saying, “The BLM has doubled down on their contempt for our local economies and the hard-working men and women who provide the clean, dispatchable, and reliable energy that many take for granted.”
Governor Gordon promised to continue to defend Wyoming industries “from the federal government’s heavy hand and their attempts to gut Wyoming’s ability to develop our resources from every angle.”
In addition to the State of Wyoming, The National Mining Association, Navajo Transitional Energy Company, Wyoming County Commissioners Association, and the Board of County Commissioners for Campbell, Converse, and Johnson Counties submitted protests to the BLM.
