A special meeting will be held this evening in Rawlins to discuss the recent drama embroiling the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County.

The organization recently terminated the organization’s long-serving Chief Executive Officer Theresa Pacheco. On Thursday, April 3rd, a social media post was shared on Facebook saying that Pacheco was terminated after she attempted to inform the National and State Boys and Girls Club about alleged discriminatory actions by the organization’s local board of directors.

The post details alleged misconduct by the board, saying that Director Pacheco was often “disrespected” during board meetings. Earlier this year, the board voted to restrict Pacheco’s authority. Additionally, the board is accused of mishandling sensitive documents regarding Boys and Girls Club employees and members.

During the March 18th Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County Board of Directors meeting, Director Pacheco was suspended for allegedly not providing the board members with information she considered confidential. Two days later, on March 20th, Pacheco was fired from her position as head of the youth organization for insubordination.

In a written statement to Bigfoot99, Theresa Pacheco said, “I can say that the parents were caught off guard with my sudden termination after [nine and a half] years without a complete explanation from the Board of Directors. This has traumatized not only the youth, but the community as well. The safety of all members and staff should be a top priority including and not limited to proper training and vetting process which takes weeks.”

Bigfoot99 has reached out to the Director of Development for Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Clyde McGuire, and the local Board of Directors for a comment about the controversy surrounding the local situation. No one from the organization responded to our request for more information.

Tonight’s meeting in Rawlins to discuss this matter will be held at the Holiday Inn Express at 6:00 p.m. Pacheco as well as other former board members and former staff members are invited to attend.
