Carbon County Public Health has been chosen to handle prevention grant services for the county.
During the January 17th Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, County Clerk Gwynn Bartlett said she requested proposals from several agencies to administer prevention grant services for the county. Clerk Bartlett said the contract will run for the next two years.
Prevention grant services is a program funded by the Wyoming Department of Health to prevent suicide and the use or abuse of tobacco, alcohol, opioids, or other controlled substances.
Clerk Bartlett said only two entities responded to the request for proposal: Carbon County Public Health and Volunteers of America. Commission Chair Sue Jones said both were qualified to handle the work. Jones said the County Public Health was awarded the contract.
Chairwoman Jones said Carbon County Public Health Nurse Manager Amanda Brown understands the program. The commission chairwoman said for that reason, county officials selected Carbon County Public Health to handle prevention grant services for the next two years.
Chairwoman Jones said Carbon County Public Health can easily adapt to administering prevention grant services because the county agency already works closely with the Wyoming Department of Health.
The board voted to award the prevention grant services contract to Carbon County Public Health.
