Platte Valley residents are coming together to help a family who lost their house in a fire.

A devastating fire, days before Thanksgiving, destroyed Trevor Vorn’s Riverside home. Vorn’s friends are holding a charity auction to raise money for him and his family. One of Vorn’s friends, Samantha Buffington, is organizing the event. She described some of the items available for bidding.

The Vorn Benefit Auction is tomorrow, March 4th, at the Platte Valley Community Center. Buffington said homemade enchiladas may be available for $14 a plate, weather permitting. All proceeds from food sales will be donated to Vorn as well.

Inspired by other similar auctions, Buffington said a charity benefit seemed like a good way to raise money. She said Vorn’s friends stepped up to make the auction happen.

Buffington is also responsible for organizing Vorn’s GoFundMe page. As of the reporting of this story, almost $6,000 has been raised. Buffington said attendees can donate to the fundraiser during the auction.

Bidding starts at 3:30. Buffington said people should arrive early because the event will be run like a traditional auction.

Buffington said more auction items are always welcome. She said people should arrive before the event begins if they have items to donate.

The Vorn Benefit Auction is tomorrow, March 4th, at the Platte Valley Community Center. Doors will be open from 2 to 8pm. The auction begins at 3:30pm.
