Lame duck congresswoman Liz Cheney told the Texas Tribune last week that she will leave the Republican Party if Donald Trump is nominated for president in 2024.

Cheney dodged the question about whether she herself will run in the primary against Trump, putting her brand of Republicanism on the line against MAGA populism. The Virginia transplant will not serve in the next Congress after being trounced by a Trump-backed candidate in last month’s Wyoming primary.

Cheney is using her remaining time in Congress to ramrod one-sided January 6th hearings against Trump supporters.
