More than $5 million in COVID relief money was awarded to Carbon County and the City of Rawlins on Monday.

The county and the city were among nearly 2,000 applicants competing for federal dollars through the State Loan and Investment Board’s COVID Relief Grant program. The state is scrambling to disburse the money by the end of the year.

Carbon County was awarded $2.6 million, the city $2.8 million. Cali O’Hare has the details.
