Colorado Parks and Wildlife released a new map showing wolves released last year have roamed far and wide with some of the predators moving into Wyoming to the north and Utah to the west.

The group includes 15 wolves captured in British Columbia and released in Pitkin and Eagle counties as well as the Copper Creek pack’s re-released breeding female and her four pups.

The map released this week shows that Colorado wolves have moved north of Walden and westward across Jackson County to areas north of Steamboat Spring in Routt County.

The map released this week shows watersheds in which wolf activity was present from January 21st through February 25th.

The Colorado wildlife agency acknowledges 31 wolves present in the state.

Wolves start the breeding season in mid-February with denning taking place in mid- to late April and pups born in late April or early May.
