Appearing in Rawlins on Tuesday evening, Wyoming’s freshman congresswoman says she’s “horrified” by the corruption of our federal government.
On Tuesday evening in Rawlins, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman addressed a crowd of over 100 people during a town hall discussion at the Jeffery Center.
During her talk, Congresswoman Hageman mentioned that last month, the federal government passed a 1,102-page, $1.2 trillion minibus to fund the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and other state and federal agencies. The congresswoman said she was only given 32 hours to read the lengthy bill.
Hageman said she opposed the March 22nd minibus and all the other shortsighted bills put forth by congress.
Congresswoman Hageman said since taking office 16 months ago, she has been fighting to extend the time Native American tribes can legally lease their land to developers, from 25 years to 99. The congresswoman said tribes may apply for a lease extension from the United States Secretary of the Interior’s office. However, she said tribes must often wait decades for the Secretary of the Interior to review their applications. Congresswoman Hageman said her bill appears primed to pass the Senate.
Congresswoman Hageman said on April 12th, the House passed the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act. The congresswoman said she opposed the bill because it extends the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA. Hageman said state and federal law enforcement agencies have misused FISA to perform illegal warrant-less data collection on millions of Americans.
Congresswoman Hageman said she and 11 other members of congress delivered articles of impeachment against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. The congresswoman said the Senate broke with 230 years of American history by dismissing the articles of impeachment before trial.
Congresswoman Hageman said she has a large folder of reports compiled by Department of Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari showing how, under Mayorkas’s watch, over 11 million illegal aliens have entered the country. The congresswoman said her reports also show that children are being taken from youth detention centers and given to human traffickers, en masse.
The congresswoman said by attempting to cover up the crisis on our southern border, the federal government is actively participating in child trafficking.
Congresswoman Hageman said Department of Homeland Security Inspector General Cuffari also told her about a phone app created by his agency, called CBP One. The app allows migrants to set up an appointment with U.S. officials at international crossing points to determine whether they should be allowed into the country to request asylum.
Congresswoman Hageman said the House Judiciary Committee passed The Forth Amendment is Not for Sale act. The congresswoman said the bill closes a loophole used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to collect cell phone data from Americans without a warrant.
The congresswoman said the FBI can use the purchased cell phone data to geolocate a person to within one yard.
Congresswoman Hageman said she voted against the recent $95 billion foreign aid package. The bill included $61 billion specifically for Ukraine. The congresswoman said she doesn’t condone Russian’s actions in Ukraine, but she feels that it isn’t our responsibility to pay to protect Europe.
Congresswoman Hageman said she is working on a bill to prevent the federal government from shutting down the final postal distribution center in Wyoming. The congresswoman said processing mail outside of the state will make it take longer for residents to receive potentially life-saving packages.
The Biden administration has made significant changes to Title 9, the civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination against students and employees at public schools and universities that receive federal funding. Title 9 was altered to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, making it illegal for schools to prevent boys from playing girls’ sports. Congresswoman Hageman said she personally benefited from Title 9 and does not support the Biden administration’s communistic changes to the law.
Congresswoman Hageman said the Unites States of America was established under the assumption that future leaders would use reason and logic to guide the country. The congresswoman said the founding fathers could not have anticipated the unprecedented levels of corruption of our federal government.
Congresswoman Hageman said since arriving in Washington D.C., she has seen how our government is moving away from the rule of law and now only focuses on protecting the favored few. The congresswoman said the government’s treatment of Donald Trump goes against everything she learned in law school.
Congresswoman Hageman said she will continue to fight against the federal government to preserve and expand state’s rights.
