Hazy conditions will persist across the area today because of wildfires burning near and far pushing smoke in the region.

The nearby Morgan Creek Fire is burning in the Routt National Forest north of Steamboat Springs. As of Monday night, it was listed at 3,800 acres and zero percent contained. A Type III Incident Team from Wyoming assumed command of the fire Tuesday morning.

The fire has closed a large section of the Continental Divide Trail. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is forecasting that dry storms could develop across Carbon County today, producing lightning and strong winds, but little in the way of rain. Hot temperatures will continue, contributing to fire danger.
