The Rawlins Fire Department responded to a dumpster fire over the weekend.
The RFD received the call Sunday evening from the Bitter Creek Apartments, at 434 East Hugus Street. Battalion Chief Allen Robinson said a protective barrier around the trash receptacle prevented the fire from spreading.
Battalion Chief Robinson said firefighters got to the scene around 20 minutes after receiving the call. Chief Robinson said the fire was quickly put out.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, Battalion Chief Robinson said. Because of the small amount of damage that occurred, Robinson said that a full-blown investigation isn’t required.
Battalion Chief Robinson said the damage was contained entirely to the trashcan itself. No one was injured; however, the battalion chief said the dumpster was a total loss.
