The Rawlins City Council is hosting a special meeting today to discuss the Edinburgh Street repair project.

This afternoon at 4:30, the Rawlins City Council will convene to consider a contract with Lewis and Lewis, the Rock Springs-based contractor selected for the Edinburgh Street Project.

In 2019, city residents approved the use of 6th Penny Tax funds to reconstruct Edinburgh Street between Dunphail and Murray, including upgrades to underground utilities and storm sewers. Groundwater issues have caused the road surface to buckle and crack.

If the contract is approved, Lewis and Lewis will be given 250 days from the date of signing to finish the Edinburgh Street project or face $2,500 in liquidated damages for each day the work extends beyond the scheduled completion date. The Rock Springs contractor is expected to begin preliminary work this winter.

The public is encouraged to attend this afternoon’s meeting in person or watch live on YouTube at www.rawlinswy.gov/youtube.
