Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have dropped in the last few weeks.

According to Gas Buddy.com, the lowest price to fuel up in the Cowboy State is Sam’s Club in Casper, where the price was $2.16 per gallon on Monday afternoon. The Phin Deli on Interstate 80 near Buford clocked in at $2.19.

The highest price in the state Monday was the Wash Me Car Wash in Buffalo, which stood out with a price per gallon of $3.40. According to the Gas Buddy web site, prices in Rawlins stood around $2.39 on Monday.

The national (regular) gas average as of Jan. 24 was holding at $3.10 a gallon. For mid-grade, the national gas average was $3.55; for premium, the national gas average is $3.89, and diesel was $3.92.. In December, the national average for regular gas was $3.13 and a year ago, it stood at $3.45.

Maybe it’s election year magic.

In Wyoming, the state average Monday was $2.63. The average price here in Carbon County was $2.52 a gallon, three cents higher than Laramie. One year ago, the state’s average was $3.35. The highest recorded average price for regular unleaded gas was $4.90 per gallon on July 1, 2022.

As of Monday, Fremont, Hot Springs, Johnson and Park were paying above $2.90 a gallon. Wheatland was charging the highest price on Monday. The AAA website showed the price in County 8 averaging $3.19 gallon.

The AAA Gas Prices website is updated daily by Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) with average national, state and local prices for gasoline, diesel and E-85.
