Saratoga residents can dunk Carbon County School District Number Two parents and staff on the Fourth of July courtesy of the middle high school volleyball team.

At the June 4th Saratoga town council meeting, Saratoga Middle High School Volleyball Coach Jamie Lee presented the fundraising idea: a dunk tank. Lee asked the governing body to allow her and the middle high school volleyball team to set up a dunk tank in the town hall parking lot.

Lee said she has several people lined up to volunteer to be dunked, including Carbon County School District Number Two Superintendent Darrin Jennings. Councilwoman Kathy Beck joked about dunking Mayor Chuck Davis. Mayor Davis did not approve of Councilwoman Beck’s idea.

Mayor Davis asked Lee how long she needed the town hall parking lot to be closed. Lee said she planned to run the event from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Saratoga Police Chief Mike Morris said he’ll block off the parking lot early on the morning of the 4th to prevent people from using the parking area.

Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Amanda Knotwell encouraged people to park across the street from town hall, at the Platte Valley Community Center.

The Saratoga town council voted to allow the Saratoga Middle High School volleyball team to use the town hall parking lot to set up a dunk tank on the Fourth of July.
