Governor Mark Gordon on Thursday formally ended the emergency executive order issued last month because of the Congressional shutdown.

Congress was back in session Wednesday after an extended recess of more than 50 days, the longest in U.S. history. In the first order of business, the House convened to vote on a spending bill that funds several agencies —including the Agriculture Department, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Food and Drug Administration—for a full year, while extending funding for the rest of the federal government through January 30.

In Cheyenne, Governor Gordon formally ended state’s Hunger Relief Program. The effort was created to ensure that food was available after SNAP benefits paused when Democrats walked away from their jobs.

Governor Gordon thanked the Legislature for setting aside funds to fill in during the emergency.

The Hunger Relief Program, administered by the Department of Family Services (DFS), provided two weeks of food subsidies to Wyoming food banks, church pantries, and other entities. DFS will provide the Governor with a full report of the funds expended by mid-December.

Congress returned to session to address the government shutdown on November 12, 2025, when the House convened for the first time in 54 days to vote on the funding package to end the shutdown.
