Governor Mark Gordon honored two local EMTs, one of whom was killed and the other seriously injured, while responding to a crash on Interstate 80 a few days before Christmas.

Tyeler Harris and Tiffany Greutzmacher of Rawlins was responding to an emergency call on Interstate 80 when a tractor-trailer combination plowed into the crash scene they were working around 4:15 a.m. on December 21st.

Governor Gordon, in his State of the State address to the Legislature, said the pair “exemplify the spirit of what makes Wyoming so special.”

 

A funeral service for Harris will be held in Riverton on Sunday. The memorial will be streamed live to the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga so friends and colleagues who cannot travel to Riverton can congregate and share their condolences. The service will be held at 1 p.m.

The governor also recounted the story of the other EMT who responded that morning from Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins.

 

The governor also honored a firefighter with the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Bruce Lang, who died December 22nd when the utility task vehicle he was riding on plunged into open water while attempting to assist another individual who had fallen through ice on Keyhole Reservoir.

Governor Gordon said first responders demonstrate the spirit of Wyoming through courage, sacrifice and neighbors helping neighbors.
