The price of gasoline hit another record high Tuesday. Nationwide, the average price of regular unleaded his $4.919, up six cents a gallon from Monday. The average price in Wyoming today is $4.60 a gallon. On Monday, it was $4.54.

Despite the unprecedented surge, Wyoming residents have been spared the even higher gas prices some Americans are paying. The price per gallon in Wyoming Monday was the 15th lowest in the nation Monday, according to AAA. It was ranked the 13th lowest on Tuesday.

The American Automobile Association’s database of pricing showed Georgia had the cheapest gas on Monday at $4.29 gallon. California was the highest at $6.34 a gallon, followed by Nevada at $5.49.

Colorado was about in the middle of the pack at $4.62. Colorado drivers saw the price of unleaded regular jump 10 cents a gallon over night to $4.72 a gallon, according to AAA.

While California is in a league by itself, nine other states and the District of Columbia are all pegging the pump at more than $5.00 a gallon.

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said problem of high gas prices starts at the White House and hurts every sector of society.

On Monday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gas was almost 60 cents per gallon higher than it was a month ago, at $4.27. The price a year ago was $3.06. For perspective, before this surge, the previous highest price in the Energy Information Administration records was $4.11, in July 2008.

The cost of filling up your car is not even where the real pain to the economy is being felt. The cost of everything you buy or eat is soaring because of the rising cost of diesel. The average price of diesel nationwide Monday was $5.64 a gallon, impacting transportation and construction. Governor Gordon said Wyoming ranchers are feeling the pinch.

The average price of diesel in Wyoming Tuesday was $5.55 a gallon. In 13 states along the east and west coasts of the U.S., diesel is averaging over $6.00/gallon.
