A couple at the center of what officials are calling a “horrific” child abuse case appeared in District Court yesterday for sentencing. The suspects, the parents of a half-dozen children, previously pleaded not guilty to all charges, but changed their pleas to “no contest” as part of an agreement with the prosecution.

Judge Dawnessa Snyder rejected the plea agreements yesterday, calling them inappropriate for two people “who did immeasurable physical and emotional damage” to their children — all under the age of 12.
