The Hanna Marshal’s Office is seeking qualified applicants.
The town of Hanna has been without a dedicated law enforcement officer after former marshal Ted Kranenberg joined the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office in March. Since that time, Hanna has relied on the sheriff’s department to handle all in-town incidents.
During the June 6th Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, Sheriff Alex Bakken said Hanna officials requested a formal agreement with the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Bakken said he personally drafted the contract and apologized to county attorney Ashley Davis for any mistakes.
Bigfoot99 reached out to Sheriff Bakken for more information about the contract, but as of the reporting of this story, he had not responded.
This past Monday, June 12th, the official Hanna Wyoming Facebook page posted an ad seeking applicants for the open marshal position. The post linked to the Hanna Headlight website’s notice of employment for the marshal’s office.
The webpage says the town marshal would, “perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property for the Town of Hanna.”
Applicants must have a current Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST, certification and be willing to work on-call hours. The ability to pass the initial hiring process and background check are necessary. A valid driver’s license is also required. Salary is dependent on experience.
Applications may be requested from the Hanna Town Office in person or through the mail at P.O. Box 99, Hanna, WY 82327. Applicants may also apply through the Workforce Center in Rawlins. Call 307-325-9424 or email clerk@townofhanna.com with any questions.
