“Russian Collusion” conspiracy theorist Marc Elias is suing the State of Wyoming to make it easier for illegal immigrants to vote here after the Legislature passed election integrity legislation by an overwhelming majority this year.
Elias is an American election attorney who operates at the national level for the Democrat Party. He often appears on liberal national television networks like MSNBC.
Earlier this year, House Bill 156 passed with large majority votes in both the state house and senate. The House vote was 51-8. The Senate vote in Cheyenne was 26-4. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon allowed the piece of legislation to become law without his signature.
The bill requires proof of citizenship, such as a U.S. passport, birth certificate, naturalization papers or other recognized documents to register as a voter.
Leftist groups, such as Equality State Policy Center and the American Civil Liberty Unions and Elias himself are now suing the state.
They claim the law will “impose new burdensome, and entirely unnecessary requirements” to vote. The plaintiffs claim that the legislation will result in “exclusion and disenfranchisement of citizens.”
The lawsuit specifically mentions women, Hispanic, young, and low-income individuals. It specifically mentions female voters are more likely than men to be prevented from voting because of marriage-related name changes.
The defenses are likely to point out marital name changes can be done online by filling out Form SS-5 and sending an ID and a marriage certificate.
At the Wyoming Department of Motor Vehicles, no proof is needed to prove American citizenship.
