Rochelle Ranch Golf Course is hosting long drive champion Kyle Berkshire’s world record attempt.
From October 2nd through the 4th, professional golfer Kyle Berkshire will be in Rawlins to attempt to break the world record for longest golf drive. Rochelle Ranch Head Golf Professional Kevin Gannon said Berkshire fell in love with the Rawlins course a few years ago. Gannon said Rochelle Ranch’s 14th hole is the perfect place for Berkshire to attempt the seemingly impossible: hit a golf ball farther than 515 yards.
The current world record was set in 1974 by Mike Austin at Winterwood Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gannon explained why the 14th hole at Rochelle Ranch Golf Course is the best place for Berkshire to break the nearly 50-year-old record.
Gannon said the wind can assist Berkshire’s world record drive attempt. Besides having the wind at his back, Gannon said golf course staff are ensuring the hole is properly landscaped to give Berkshire the best chance at breaking the record.
Berkshire is scheduled to make his world record attempt sometime between October 2nd and 4th. Gannon said the long drive champion must wait for the weather to cooperate before taking his shot.
In 2020, Berkshire visited the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course and created a YouTube film of his game. The two-video series has over 600,000 views combined. Gannon said the long drive champ may record another online video while he waits to make his record attempt.
Kyle Berkshire will make his world record golf drive attempt sometime between October 2nd and 4th at the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course in Rawlins. While the golf pro is at the course, he’ll be available for a meet and greet and will give away posters and autographs.
