The Medicine Bow town council is once again operating with a full roster.

During Monday night’s town council meeting, Medicine Bow Rural Health Care District member Larry Lee Cook was chosen to serve on the governing body. Cook takes the seat briefly occupied by Jerry Wohl.

In March, Wohl was chosen to fill Sharon Kahl’s vacant seat. After serving for less than a month and attending only one meeting, Wohl abruptly resigned from council, citing health concerns.

At Monday’s Medicine Bow town council meeting, Mayor Justin George said he received two letters of interest for the open council position. The first letter was from Virginian Hotel head chef Lucia Villarreal, better known as Lu. In her letter, Villarreal stated that she is a hard worker.

Mayor George read the second letter of interest. In his letter, Medicine Bow Rural Health Care District member Cook wrote that his decades of management experience will make him a good addition to the town council.

Mayor George called for a motion to select one of the applications to fill the open council seat. Councilwoman Crystal Mayfield moved to appoint Cook to the board. Councilman Trevor Strauch made the second and the motion carried.

Cook was out of town during Monday’s town council meeting and unable to be sworn in. However, Mayor George said Cook must resign from the Medicine Bow Rural Health Care District before he can serve on the council.

Assuming he steps down from the Medicine Bow Rural Health Care District, Lee Cook will take his seat on the Medicine Bow town council during the next meeting on June 10th.
