Bigfoot99 sat down with the newest Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County to talk about the future of the medical center.

On March 31st, Memorial Hospital Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Hinkle announced the hospital’s Board of Trustees appointed Kerry Ashment as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Speaking to Bigfoot99 reporter Matt Copeland, Ashment explained he has been in the healthcare industry for over 26 years.

Ashment said a job recruiter contacted him about the open CEO position, providing details about the struggling medical facility. He explained that those challenges, along with the small-town atmosphere, drew him to the Rawlins hospital.

Ashment is beginning his third week as the CEO of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County. During his short time as head of the organization, Ashment has concentrated on boosting the hospital’s reputation by continuing to improve the accuracy of medical billing.

Ashment said hospital staff are working to ensure patients receive their medical bills in a timely manner, with a focus on avoiding errors.

A positive aspect of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County is the staff. Ashment said the community knows that the medical team will deliver the care they require, even if that treatment doesn’t occur in Rawlins.

Ashment said every member of the Memorial Hospital team, including the administrative, housekeeping, and maintenance staff, is fully dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible.

Memorial Hospital is facing a critical revenue shortfall. Ashment explained that as the medical facility rebuilds trust within the community, revenue will grow. The additional money will be used to improve the services offered by the Rawlins hospital.

Ashment stated he and his team are committed to rebuilding the reputation of the medical facility. The Chief Executive Officer shared a conversation he had with a community member, where he promised to restore people’s confidence in Memorial Hospital of Carbon County through increased public engagement.
