Paramedic dies in line of duty

Sad news to report on this Monday: a paramedic from Rawlins that many area residents knew died Saturday in the line of duty.

Michael Wilder was working the scene of a fatal crash on I-80 when he suffered a medical emergency of his own. Cali O’Hare reports.

Encampment hires Deputy Shue

The Encampment Town Council hired a new police chief Thursday evening. Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Shue take over the vacant position on February 1st. Emma Diercks has the story.

Rawlins bypasses legal advice, approves asbestos cleanup bid

Rawlins City Council last week rejected the advice of its legal counsel and accepted a late bid on an asbestos cleanup project.

Amy Bach advised against accepting the bid. It wasn’t late by much – three minutes – but the city attorney said that was enough to disqualify it.

City council went on to approve the bid on a 5-1 vote. Cali O’Hare has more.

Homeless vet pleads with Saratoga to change RV ordinance

In Saratoga, a man who approached the Town Council last week requested that ordinances restricting people from living in recreational vehicles be rescinded.

The planning commission is to address the issue this week. Emma Diercks reports.

 

 

Sports: County teams shine in weekend play

The first weekend back in action was a good one for Carbon County high schools as they won nearly 80 percent of their contests as a whole. Joey Saverine has the story.
