Wyoming Game and Fish have stocked Saratoga Lake with more trout ahead of the big three-day weekend.
On Monday morning, the state wildlife agency stocked more fish in the popular lake northeast of town. According to state wildlife employees, around 10,000 Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout were added to the lake. The trout came from the Saratoga National Fish Hatchery.
Andrew Ault is the Statewide Response Specialist for Wyoming Game and Fish. He told Bigfoot99 that the fish are mostly around nine inches in length and are ready for anglers to catch right now.
In an email from the Saratoga National Fish Hatchery, Supervisory Fish Biologist Lee Bender said the 10,000 fish weighed 2,070 pounds.
Yesterday’s restocking increased the total number of fish in Saratoga Lake by nearly 355%. The newly introduced fish joined the Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout and larger Tiger Trout introduced earlier in the month from the state’s Wigwam Rearing Station.
Ault was unable to say if any more fish would be added to Saratoga Lake.
