Illegal aliens driving big rigs on the nation’s highways have been the recent target of law enforcement patrols.
In Wyoming, Operation Safe Haul, over a three-day period between Nov. 18 and November 20th, resulted in 40 arrests and dozens of trucks being pulled off the road for safety violations. Among the infractions were inoperable brakes on the big rigs and drivers carrying falsified documents. ICE officials warned that “foreign nationals driving 40‑ton rigs without proper vetting pose a direct homeland security threat.”
Dragnets in other states cast an even bigger net.
In Indiana, DHS confirmed 146 truck drivers were detained after a fatal crash involving a foreign CDL holder sparked outrage. In Texas, 31 drivers were arrested along I‑40 in Wheeler County, most of whom were carrying California‑issued CDLs despite lacking lawful residency. Governor Greg Abbott blasted California’s licensing policies, saying “cartel operatives are exploiting that loophole to drive through Texas unchecked.” Over 70 illegal aliens from 15 countries, including 36 criminal aliens, were taken off the highways in Oklahoma.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement, many illegal drivers were issued CDLs by Democrat-run sanctuary states like California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York. Eight of the illegal truck-driving aliens could produce no CDL at all.
Nationwide, 250 foreign CDL truck drivers were taken off the roads in November.
