The Sheriff’s Office is making good use of their newly purchased ATV.

Using Wind Farm Impact funding, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office purchased an ATV last month. Sheriff Alex Bakken said the quad would be used to patrol difficult to access parts of the county, such as the Seminoe Sand Dunes.

At Wednesday’s Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, Sheriff Bakken said the four-wheeler saw a lot of action over the 4th of July weekend. The sheriff said his deputies were able to apprehend out-of-state trespassers near the Seminoe Reservoir.

Sheriff Bakken said while on patrol in the sand dunes, his deputy was informed of a person threatening to harm himself. The deputuy used the ATV to reach the man and call in the necessary help. Sheriff Bakken thanked the commissioners for permitting him to buy the quad.

With this versatile tool in their arsenal, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office can quickly respond to calls in places they otherwise would have trouble getting to.
