In Rawlins, the ongoing winter storm and its aftermath have resulted in the No Unnecessary Travel Advisory to be extended through 6:00 p.m. today.

Interim City Manager Tom Sarvey extended the travel advisory because of the poor visibility, extreme cold, slick roads and significant drifting on streets through town.

City offices and facilities also will remain closed today.

According to a city news release, dozens of vehicles, many of them four-wheel drives, became stuck in snowbound streets around town Wednesday. The stranded vehicles pose both a danger and an obstacle to emergency responders performing necessary work.

City crews are working extended shifts, but roads are still not considered passable.

City of Rawlins office and facilities, including city hall, public works/community development, animal shelter, landfill, recycling center, Business Innovation Hub, Rawlins Family Recreation Center, indoor shooting range, and the Rochelle Ranch Golf Pro Shop will remain closed today.
