In Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, President Donald Trump’s nominee to run the Internal Revenue Service ran into a tough grilling from Democrat Senators during a confirmation hearing, but a more sympathetic reception from Republicans, including Wyoming’s John Barrasso.

Billy Long, a former U.S. Representative of Missouri and a radio talk show host, has the backing of Senate Republicans. Democrats have blasted him as a “magnet for fraud. Long helped American businesses enroll in a pandemic-era tax credit during the Biden era.

Wyoming’s Senior Senator was welcoming. Senator Barrasso opened his questions of the nominee with the statement that that Democrats had weaponized the IRS under President Joe Biden.
